June is National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month. So this should be the time for Captain America to confess his undying mental, emotional and physical devotion, his all-consuming love for all-time BFF Bucky Barnes, and make so many followers of#GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend very happy for them in the process.
On the animated side of the Disney Universe, Elsa from Frozen has been the object of a social media campaign to give the ice princess a girlfriend in the now-in-production Frozen 2. The #GiveElsaAGirlfriend movement has gained enough momentum to get the approval of Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa herself:
“I think it’s great, Disney’s just gotta contend with that. I’ll let them figure that out.”
And Pixar might also have teased a same-sex couple in the upcomingFinding Dory.
Disney Princess reimagineer/fan artist extraordinaire Isaiah Stephenshas taken LGBT Pride Month to heart and given 12 select Disney Princesses their perfect same-sex match. Stephens had previously reimagined the Princesses as moms-to-be, students at Hogwarts andStar Wars characters.
All of them are delightful and will make for a perfect happily-ever-after.
